TVXQ - Spellbound MV Thoughts

I was really excited for this music video firstly because I was not expecting it at all, and also because I loved "Something" sooo much that I was hoping I would like this one just as well. After the first listen, I liked it more than I liked Something the first time around, but Something is literally my favorite song at the moment so obviously Spellbound isn't up to that level yet. But, I absolutely LOVE this style for them - the jazzy feel, with the nice suits and the trumpet / instrumentals, and the addictive dances... After listening to Spellbound a couple more times I can tell that I'm going to love it. It's addictive in a way you wouldn't expect. As for the music video, there was one female dancer who for some reason was incredibly distracting to me but overall I really liked the concept. I love this hair color on Yunho and their outfits are good although I thought it was weird that they were wearing different color shoes but maybe that's just me. The dance is great, on their part and the part of the backup dancers, and I liked the camera work a lot; it made it feel like it was done in one take, and at times the dancers seemed to appear out of nowhere which I had to go back and watch again to see that it wasn't just special effects. Overall I'm really happy with the song and music video and cannot wait to see them promote it. (They are promoting it, right?) If they are I hope they beat GG and 2ne1, I just think that would be hilarious.

7th Album "Tense" and Repackaged "Spellbound" Thoughts

Honestly, anything that any JYJ or TVXQ members put out I fall in love with for some reason...I think they are incredibly talented and able to retain their sound regardless of what style they are attempting. This album is a completely different concept from their last one with Catch Me and Humanoids, both of which are excellent songs in my opinion, but I like the fact that they can switch gears and do something like this and still pull it off. I loved the album "Tense," particularly the song 너의 남자 (Your Man) which is like my jam at the moment, so I am looking forward to listening to the repackaged album now as well. After the first full listen, I generally liked all of the songs, but none stuck out to me. [Edit: After listening again, most of the songs are notably very good and I honestly believe this is a wonderful album.]So far I like the songs "Off Road" and "Heaven's Day" best because TVXQ's falsetto voices are clean and addictive, and these songs are catchy enough to listen to multiple times. We'll see~ Anyway, overall I really enjoy this album and think it was a good choice for TVXQ to take this route this time.
Ok, so I've always liked SPICA's songs but haven't really gotten to know them and honestly forgot about them for a while but with their new comeback I kind of rediscovered my obsession and was rewatching old videos and such and I didn't realize how talented they are!

For example..

Honestly I don't like the movie Pitch Perfect very much and am not a fan of this song either but I absolutely love their rendition of it; they have amazing harmonization and beautiful and unique vocal talent.

Also, Bohyung's cover of Let it Go is also just flawless. People talk about her English not being perfect but honestly it's pretty good considering she is not a native speaker. People just need to get over themselves so they can recognize how talented she is.

I also really love this performance; again, they sing so beautifully together and add their own style to their covers, and though they are singing a song that is not really their genre, it suits them somehow. I was really impressed.

The thing that gets me about this next video is that at first I couldn't tell if they were actually singing live. But they are! It's on the radio, and they're just perfect... They're having fun yet spot on with their performance. Jiwon was talking about how when they listened to Tonight before recording it, they were unsure they would be able to pull it off, and it didn't sound like a song they would want to do. But after recording, they wanted it to be their title song, and I really love this video because it shows how much they really enjoy this song.

Anyway, I just can't believe they aren't more popular. There are so many girl groups nowadays who have won music shows (cough AOA cough) and are getting a lot of attention for their sexy concepts but SPICA's raw talent and addictive songs are being overlooked. I really hope You Don't Love Me gets a win because they deserve it! They have amazing songs and performances that are interesting without trying too hard to be "sexy" or "cute".

~ Notes ~
The top 3 from last week moved down a lot but I think that's just because I literally only listened to those three songs repeatedly last week and this week I listened to a larger variety of songs~ I don't really like C-Clown's song, so it isn't on here, and I'm starting to really like Sunmi's song so we'll see how that goes with the coming weeks. As far as albums go I still really like Trouble Maker's "Chemistry", and TVXQ's "Tense", and have yet to listen to all the tracks for some other groups which I'll do this week.

Bye

My other blog was getting slightly messy with kpop posts and personal posts and I want to keep them separate so things are more organized so thus I have created this blog for posts about kpop, kdramas, movies, media, etc ^^

I'm hoping to keep up with personal weekly kpop charts as well as keep up with posts about what new movies and dramas I am watching. I might also include posts about new albums or comebacks that I enjoy and possibly random thoughts related to the Korean entertainment industry or the entertainment industry in general.

I don't expect to gain followers or anything, this is all for my own personal documentation of my thoughts.
