I kind of figured that if Taiwanese dramas are anything like kdramas that this one would be pretty cheesy. I wasn't expecting much, which might be why I'm pretty immersed into it now, but this drama is simply adorable.
First, the plot is relatively cliche. Xiao Lu / Lu Tian Xing, the lead male character, has lost inspiration for advertising and seeks it within a smaller company that was in the past his inspiration for taking on advertising as a career. So he disguises himself and starts to work with them for awhile meanwhile falling in love with Tao Zi. So there's your common drama cliche, the whole disguise concept. But what I like about this one is that it emphasizes the fact that he's trying to find himself, rather than pretending to be someone he isn't. He's discovering that he isn't just this cocky, stuck up rich CEO who has lost passion for what he does, but he has character and loves what he does and that's why he's doing this. I also really like the fact that she has sweet moments with "both" of them, so she could potentially fall in love with them "both" which would be just adorable.
I also like that there aren't many complications to this plot... Lately I've been either looking for a light-hearted, simple drama or an intense, melodramatic and dramatic one and finding more of just a lot of dramas that are cross in the middle and I don't really like it. But this drama is simple, sweet and fun. There isn't much conflict other than the fact that he has to some day tell her that he is Lu Tian Xing, and then the small little issues within the episodes. Because I wanted something that I could get into quickly that wouldn't be much of an emotional investment for me, this drama is perfect.
I love the moments that they have together and Aaron Yan is extremely adorable. The scene where they fell asleep together was sooo sweet and showed his kind-hearted side even as Lu Tian Xing. I love the fact that his characters are starting to mesh together and he's starting to really just find who he is and what kind of person he wants to be. I'm still waiting for a kiss but I'm kind of hoping that the first one will be with her as Lu Tian Xing, but we'll see.
I'm a fan of all the characters, but something that I've had to kind of look past is the fact that because this is a romantic comedy that everything is very exaggerated, including character personalities and certain events and things. For a lot of it I'm just like ok come on that would NOT happen. But if I look past that, then I actually really do enjoy the drama and I like to look at it that way.
Basically, so far I'm enjoying this drama and I'm kind of sad that I'm going to start having to wait for new episodes but in the meantime I might try to tie up some strings on some old dramas I never finished and continue watching Angel Eyes if I can get myself back into it.
