{ Notes }
This week was interesting because there is a lot of music I have been listening to but none of them I have been listening to repeatedly, so it was extremely hard to rank. I also had one of the busiest and longest weeks of the semester so far so that might contribute to the fact that I wasn't paying attention to what songs I liked the best. 4minute's song was an unlikely first to be honest, and Speed is still dominating the chart and they might last a while. Today I downloaded a whole bunch of new songs and albums so hopefully next week the chart will be a lot different.
I understand that most songs don't last very long on my charts but that's just because there is constantly new music coming out that I listen to a lot when they're released, but there are still those that last a long time which is why I like to include how many weeks a song has been on it. Yes or No is finally at the bottom, but it's still lasted 7 weeks which is pretty long honestly.

Ok~ bye!

Again, this has been a busy week but I did my best!

Cold Love - CN  Blue

{ Notes }
I knew Zombie Party was going to be #1 when it came out; it's such a fun upbeat song for such a dark concept which I love. I find it creative and absolutely love it and have been listening nonstop. Other than that song there aren't many new songs that caught my eye this week, so most of what I've been listening to has been the same from last week. I like 4minute's new album but was kind of disappointed with the title track, I fell in love with Troy's Green Light, and I listen to Cold Love by CNBlue a lot which is why it's back on the chart. 2ne1 songs are getting kind of old now, so they went down quite a bit.
Not much else to say.
On April 16th, 2014, in exactly one month, I am going to Dallas to see B.A.P live! I'm super excited because this will be my second kpop concert, the first being VIXX in Dallas last November, but this time I have a VIP ticket! As of right now, I'm not sure exactly what that entails but I'm hoping it means I get to have some face to face interaction with the group. For VIXX, I bought my ticket late, so I wasn't able to secure VIP but for this concert, I bought tickets right when they went on sale hoping to get something close and they sold out so quickly! Right when the sales opened, there were no available VIP tickets, everyone was holding them. So I had to keep trying until someone released one in order for me to get one.

The three people I am going with also all have VIP tickets now, so I'm pretty excited for this experience. I also know some people from my school going and a couple people on twitter who will be there and I can't wait to finally meet them in person. I love the idea of kpop concerts because all these people who like the same thing as me and understand my obsession with kpop are going to be there, and people who I regularly interact with on social media will be there too, so I can meet them. I hope I can meet some more fans to be friends with. At VIXX, I sat alone but the people next to me were so nice and we talked and had fun together. In the past people have not attempted to understand why I like kpop and instead used it as something to make fun of me for. This is why I am so blessed to have friends who also like it so that we can do things like this together.

Now for this next month I am going to touch up on my BAP feels and watch their shows and whatnot because I really want to make the most out of this experience! I also encourage anyone with the chance to see a group live to do it, even if the group isn't your favorite, because it's such a fun experience. I will definitely make a fan account post on here after the concert so I won't ever forget it, just like I did on my other blog after VIXX.

I honestly can't wait and hope this experience goes smoothly and is fun!
This week was extremely difficult to put together and I did a lot of switching around... The full list of songs I wanted on the chart had 27 songs so I had to narrow it down which was kind of hard. However I think now I am content with the list!

상남자 (Boy In Luv) - BTS, Kiss It Away - Lee Min Woo

{ Notes }

Boy in Luv is back on the charts after not being there for like, four weeks; I've been listening to it since its first week but not as much as other songs until this week. I debated putting Lee Min Woo's Kiss it Away on there because it's not a title song and Lee Min Woo's album is not well known but it's been my comfort song this week so I figured why not. As for new music, I really like Orange Caramel's Catallena, because it's interesting and different like most of their music, and there are a couple of songs that I have been neglecting such as GOT7's I Like You and BTS's Jump, that have recently caught my attention. I am kind of disappointed with Toheart's song to be honest, because the first teaser had me expecting something much different, and it sounds sort of...conventional...to me but I still like it, probably because it's them. I still really love Speed's album and 1004 rose a lot this week to be #1, maybe because I am going to see them in a month or maybe because it's just a good song but two weeks ago it wasn't even on the chart so that's kind of interesting. Anyway I think I finally kind of squared away what songs I like best lately this week instead of having a messy list so there you go!

Bye!

Rant About Music Videos

I'm really picky about music videos; I usually don't watch them more than once because unless the video has a really addictive dance, they're pretty boring and conventional, and usually without any meaning deeper than whatever "concept" or "look" the group is going for. If a music video makes me understand the song more, or discover a new or different meaning to the song, or if it enhances my listening experience, then I'll like it. But honestly, nowadays it seems like most groups do the same thing in their videos and it usually doesn't change my opinion of the song unless it's a group that I really like, in which case the music video could be terrible or pointless and I would still love it and defend it to the end of the earth. But if they're trying to attract new fans then I just don't understand why companies choose to give their groups these conventional, overdone concepts that everyone has seen before. Okay, that being said, I'm going to talk a little about one recent release that hasn't been disappointing.

Speed - Why I'm Not MV Thoughts

For some reason, this music video is incredibly intriguing to me. I have watched several times and will probably watch again, which might seem strange considering its pretty simple concept, but I find it addictive and interesting. I'm not a huge fan of Speed, I think I like some of their other songs but I don't listen to them often and don't know the members or much about them but I absolutely love this song, which made me download the album, which I also love. The song is pretty much someone wondering what it is he has done wrong to make every girl that he likes turn away to another man. It's kind of an angry song, with lines such as "I'm the dog on the leash / I don't want to be dragged around anymore" and "Why am I the only one in pain?" but the music video kind of, in my opinion, shows it from a different perspective. The video focuses on the girl, with each of the boys coming and going, while she is annoyed and frustrated and trying to push them away.

So the way that I see it is that the music video is showing that often, people think they are the only one hurting, and that the world is doing them wrong when they can't find what they're looking for or are hurt by people, when there are always two sides to a story. There is a scene where the girl pulls out a cigarette but is surrounded by these men distracting her so that she can't even light it. She can't even find peace in the stress-relieving aspects of her life because of the suffocating relationships she has had and the anger from those from her past. Then, on the other side of the story, there is the guy, who, in a scene at the end, seems to be holding desperately to this girl, with everything he has, only to be easily let go by her. But neither of them seem to be considering the other person's perspective; the woman is only focused on getting through life without stopping for any of these men, and the men are only focused on the fact that they can't seem to catch a break.

Honestly, these kind of situations happen often for me which might be why this resonates so much for me but I just feel like this video was really well done. I love the camera work; I feel like it zooms in and out when it should and the whole continuous aspect / no cuts thing that they have going on kind of mirrors the way that life goes on, and you have to "keep walking without strength once again."

Anyway, in the midst of all of these high-tech, digitally enhanced and visually appealing videos that are coming out like Come Back Home and I suppose Mr. Mr, it's refreshing to see a music video like this that has a lot of meaning in a very simple concept.

This week has been somewhat busy and it's hard to listen to music consistently because there is just so much new stuff out and more coming out daily but I think I've managed to get it down to my top twenty for this week. As expected I have been listening to TVXQ's album nonstop, and I've also been enjoying CN Blue's album a lot. I didn't even know about Speed's comeback but I absolutely love their music video for Why I'm Not, and I'll probably make a post about it... other than that I've been listening to music sporadically with certain songs from different groups' albums. Yes Or No has managed to stay on the top for awhile and I still really enjoy listening to that song so we'll see how long it prevails.

See you next week~
On the Mr. Mr. / snsd issue, there are just some ignorant comments I would like to address.

"They're using snsd to get more known."
First of all, do you realize that by doing this, Mr. Mr.'s company most likely understood that they were going to get a lot of hate for it. It's obvious that if you try to say something even remotely "bad" about an extremely popular group that you are going to have many opinionated fans against you. I don't think any company is dumb enough to think that doing this would make them /more/ in favor with kpop fans. If anything, SNSD using "Mr. Mr." as their title song name makes Mr. Mr. less well known. Personally when I am searching for a lesser known group on any search engine or site, I already have to sift through many other posts with similar wording to find what I am looking for. Even if you search "beast," a popular group, on google, they are second to the comic "Beast" in search results. So imagine now, Mr. Mr, who relies on the little name recognition that they get from kpop fans, has to compete with SNSD search results as well. It will be harder to find articles and videos and photos of Mr. Mr, and rather than associating the name "Mr. Mr." with the boy band, people are going to associate it with SNSD. If you google "Mr. Mr," three of the first four results are related to SNSD. The band Mr. Mr. only shows up in one of the results on the page, and it is the article explaining the scandal with SNSD. Name recognition is the basis of a lot of fandom's growth. People may not listen to a group or know much about them but "have heard of them" at least. If they were a popular group that had a large fanbase, it wouldn't matter as much, because they would be well known enough for this song title not to overshadow their group title. For example, Secret's song "Madonna" doesn't change the fact that Madonna is insanely more famous than Secret's song. But it sucks for an aspiring artist that is not very well known in the first place and is fighting for recognition in the industry, whose band name is now associated with another group. Even if they did use this as a way to increase their fame, what is wrong with that? The kpop industry is competitive. Mr. Mr.'s company might have seen a chance to make their group big and jumped on it. How is this any different from other companies who use the fame of their popular groups to promote their newer groups? It's competitive strategy.

"How could they think they could win this argument against the queens!"
First of all, if it had been any relatively popular group, not just your "queens," I'm pretty sure it would have bothered Mr. Mr. 's company. It's not that they were personally attacking SNSD. If you read the lyrics to their song, "Am I a loser and are you a winner? We're going the same path," it is pretty obvious that they are more upset that SNSD has put in place a barrier to their success, when SNSD used to be in the same place as them when they were rookies. They are offended by it. Mr. Mr's company just wants SM to know that just because SM is bigger and more powerful doesn't mean that SM can do whatever they want, and disrespect another group. If it had been the opposite, where a lesser known group used SNSD's name, fans would still defend SNSD, saying the group was using them for their own success. In this case, it's the opposite. It's almost as if SM is defaming Mr. Mr. Yes, Mr. Mr is not well known, and yes, the word "Mr." is common enough for this not to be completely intentional on SM's part but that is the exact reason that Mr. Mr. is offended by this. It's like saying "You aren't important enough for me to respect your name as yours." Mr. Mr. is a new group and new groups rely on name recognition. B.A.P.'s popularity grew so quickly because they were constantly promoting, constantly getting their name out there to be more well known. So if Mr. Mr. had stood still and not responded to SNSD using their name, they probably would continue to be overlooked, and many people would have not even noticed that there was a group named "Mr. Mr." and would just associate this phrase with SNSD. I respect Mr. Mr. and their company a whole lot for speaking up about this. They don't want to be trampled on. They're being vocal about something that upsets them, even if it means they have to say something against a very popular group. I think it's safe to say that no rookie group can honestly compete with SNSD, but the fact that they are still taking pride in who they are and not letting SNSD take over their name is a respectable quality.

Another note. Allkpop is terribly biased. They're a good source of news for the general idea of what is going on but please do not rely on them for accurate information. They made it sound like Mr. Mr. was being incredibly hateful toward snsd, which I personally do not believe is the case.

You can make your own judgment about what is going on but I honestly feel like this is a lot of unfair hatred towards a poor rookie group who feels wronged and spoke on it.

Also, this is my personal opinion. I'm not a big snsd fan, nor am I a big Mr Mr. fan. I appreciate snsd's songs and music and like a lot of the members. I have nothing against them. I just tried to look at the situation more objectively than some biased fans and this is what I've concluded about it.
This week is literally dominated by new songs which pushed a lot of other songs off the chart. Honestly I had a hard time with this ranking because there was so much music I wanted to put on the chart. I guess that's a good thing though because it means there is a lot of good music out~

{ Notes }
This ranking was honestly quite hard to put together but this week I kind of listened to a large variety of music since so many new albums came out and whatnot so it might not actually be accurate, who knows. I think the reason so many songs went down and off the chart is simply because of the new music that I was trying to listen to and see if I like, rather than listen to songs that were already out. With the coming weeks this chart might be less jumbled. As far as albums go this week I love TVXQ's Spellbound repackaged album a lot,  Lee Min Woo's album is growing on me, I like a couple songs on Sunmi's album but some of them don't do it for me, and the same goes for 2ne1's album. Melody Day's debut is definitely not a disappointment either, and CN Blue's and Swing's albums I have yet to really get a good listen in but so far I really like them.
