Aaron Yan: Drama

So, I started watching Fall in Love With Me a couple weeks ago, and have stopped because I'm waiting for the series to finish so I can watch it straight without waiting for new episodes because I'm that type of person, but I really like the soundtrack, and had been obsessing over it while I was watching, because Aaron Yan has a really addictive, beautiful voice. I'm also watching Just You, so this album was really exciting for me to be released because well, I've been hearing all these songs while watching these dramas.

I was especially looking forward to the track The Unwanted Love being released, and I even downloaded the ripped version from one of the episodes, that has like, background noises from what was going on in the drama at the time and wasn't even the whole song, just because I liked it so much.

So when Aaron's album "Drama" was released I was pretty excited. I had already downloaded most of the songs that had been released but it was still pretty awesome to have them all.

Overall I love the album, and I love the instrumentals, and the emotion he puts into his work. I definitely appreciate it because I watched a couple episodes of the Aaron Time and heard a couple of his thoughts on it and I'm pretty certain that he works really hard to portray the style that he wants in his songs. I also follow his Instagram and see that he thinks alot about what he does and cares about it very much. So yeah, I definitely love the effort that went into making this really good.

When I listened to "多馀的我 (The Unwanted Love)" I was surprised because it's a different version from what they use in the drama. Either that or the bass line or something is more obvious in the album version, because it's not as simple and slow as I thought it was. I was kind of disappointed because I really liked it as like a very predominantly vocal song, and I don't really like it with the more upbeat background. That being said it's still not like an "upbeat" song, but it's a lot more than I thought it would be. Maybe I just got used to how I heard it in the drama but I like it better that way. It's a wonderful song though.

"擋不住的太陽 (Unstoppable Sun)" and "這不是我 (That's Not Me)" are probably my favorites on the album, and I absolutely love their instrumentals. I've been listening to That's Not Me like crazy and have been pretty much obsessing over it since I first heard it. "唯一的玫瑰 (The Only Rose)" hasn't really resonated with me yet, and I haven't listened to it much, and don't really like it as much as the others on the album. As for the track "沒規矩 (Unlimited)," I find it a really fun song and it's been in my head for awhile. I might have mentioned this before but I'm a sucker for these kind of very happy-sounding tracks, and really like the sound of this one. I think his voice suits the style of the other tracks on the album a bit more, but this song is refreshing and cute which I really like. And as for "1/2" well it's a cute song but it's not really something I find myself listening to often. I do like hearing it while watching the drama though. G.Na's voice, to me, gets tiring pretty quickly which might be another contributing factor.

I think Aaron Yan is magnificent in his acting and singing and just his general personality and it really shows through his work. I'm happy with this album. It's the first time I've been looking forward to an album in Chinese so it was extra exciting for me ^^

Anyway, those are just some thoughts on Aaron Yan's album "Drama"!
